After laying untouched and forgotten in an oak chest for about forty years this 18th century Iberian clavichord has been restored to playing condition.
Compass C - f"', Fretted from c' - f "' with all e's and b's unfretted in Iberian tradition. Twined strings were fitted to the lower courses. Lime keylevers with naturals of yew and sharps of stained fruitwood. Pine case with spruce soundboard. Fitted with new lid and keywell front board.
This clavichord is now part of the Cobbe Collection at Hatchlands Park.
